Author Guidelines
Mitra Pilar: Jurnal Pendidikan, Inovasi, dan Terapan Teknologi publishes peer-reviewed articles on education, educational innovation, and applied technology in learning. Before submitting, please read the Aims and Scope to make sure your manuscript fits the journal.
1. Types of Manuscript
The journal accepts two types of manuscript. Both go through the same peer review process. Details are given on the Types of Manuscript page.
- Research Article
This is the main article type. It reports original empirical research, including quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, classroom action research, and research and development (R&D) of learning media, instruments, or models that have been tested with users.
Length: maximum 8,000 words, excluding references. - Review Article
This article critically synthesises published literature on a topic within the journal's scope, such as a literature review, systematic literature review, scoping review, or bibliometric analysis. It must explain how the literature was searched and selected.
Length: maximum 10,000 words, excluding references.
2. Language
Manuscripts may be written in English or Indonesian. Every manuscript must include an abstract in English. Manuscripts written in Indonesian must also include an abstract in Indonesian. Authors writing in English should make sure the language is clear and correct before submission.
3. Manuscript Structure
Research Article
Title
Maximum 20 words. The title should state the main topic, and where relevant the approach and the participants or educational level. Example: "Developing Augmented Reality Learning Media to Improve Junior High School Students' Understanding of the Solar System."
Authors
Write full names without academic titles. Give each author's affiliation (institution, city, country) and ORCID iD if available. Mark the corresponding author and give their email address.
Abstract
One paragraph of 150–250 words. The abstract should state:
- the background and the research problem;
- the objective of the study;
- the research method, participants, and data analysis;
- the main findings, with numbers where possible;
- the conclusion and implications.
Keywords
3–5 keywords that show the main topics of the article.
Introduction
Explain the context and why the problem matters, supported by data and previous studies. Show what earlier studies have found and what is still missing (the research gap). State the novelty of the study and end with the research objectives or research questions.
Research Method
Describe:
- the research design or approach (for example experimental, survey, case study, classroom action research, or R&D);
- the participants or subjects: number, characteristics, educational level, location, and sampling technique;
- the instruments (for example tests, questionnaires, observation sheets, interview guides), with their validity and reliability;
- the research procedure; for R&D studies, the development model (such as ADDIE, 4-D, or Borg & Gall), expert validation, and user trials;
- the data analysis techniques;
- how permission and informed consent were obtained (see Section 4).
Write this section in paragraphs, not only in bullet points.
Results and Discussion
Present the findings clearly, using tables and figures where helpful. Explain what the results mean, compare them with previous studies, and discuss their implications for teaching and learning. State the limitations of the study.
Conclusion
Answer the research objectives or questions clearly. Give practical recommendations and suggestions for future research.
Statements and Declarations
Include these short statements at the end of the manuscript, before the references:
- Acknowledgments: thank schools, teachers, and others who helped but are not authors. Do not thank people who are listed as authors.
- Funding: name the funder and grant number, or write "This research received no external funding."
- Conflict of Interest: state any interests that may influence the work, or write "The authors declare no conflict of interest." See our Conflict of Interest policy.
- Author Contributions: state what each author did, by name, using the CRediT roles. See our Authorship Criteria.
- Use of AI Tools: state whether AI tools were used and for what purpose (see Section 4).
- Data Availability: state where the data can be obtained, for example "The data are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request."
- Informed Consent: for research with human participants, state that permission and consent were obtained.
References
See Section 5.
Review Article
Use this structure: Title, Authors, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Method (databases searched, search terms, time range, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and number of sources analysed; PRISMA is encouraged for systematic reviews), Results and Discussion (organised by theme), Conclusion, Statements and Declarations, and References.
4. Research Ethics
Permission and consent. Research in schools or other institutions requires permission from the head of the institution. Participants must agree to take part and must be told how their data will be used. For participants under 18 years of age, consent from a parent or guardian is also required.
Voluntary participation. When the researcher is also the teacher or lecturer of the participants, taking part or refusing to take part must not affect their grades.
Privacy. Do not show personal information that can identify participants, such as full names, student ID numbers, grades, or contact details, unless they have given written permission.
Photos. Photos of people may be published only with their permission. Faces of children must be blurred, unless a parent or guardian has given written permission.
Ethics approval. Research involving vulnerable groups (such as young children or students with special needs) or sensitive personal data should have approval from a research ethics committee where required. Please give the approval number in the Research Method section.
Use of AI tools. AI tools may be used to help with language editing. They must not be used to create data, results, or references. AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors are fully responsible for the content of the manuscript.
Originality. The manuscript must be original and must not be under review or published elsewhere. All manuscripts are checked with Turnitin. The maximum similarity is 12%. See our Plagiarism Policy.
For more information, see our Publication Ethics.
5. References
- Use APA Style (7th edition) for citations and the reference list.
- Every in-text citation must appear in the reference list, and every entry in the reference list must be cited in the text.
- Use reference management software, such as Mendeley or Zotero.
- At least 80% of references should be primary sources (journal articles) from the last 10 years.
- Give the DOI for each reference when available.
6. Manuscript Format
- Use the Article Template.
- Submit the manuscript as a Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx).
- Figures must be clear, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
- Tables must be editable, not pasted as images.
- Number all tables and figures, and mention each one in the text.
7. Submission and Review Process
- Register as an author and submit the manuscript through the journal website.
- The editor checks whether the manuscript fits the scope and follows these guidelines.
- The manuscript is checked for similarity.
- The manuscript is reviewed by at least two reviewers in a single-blind process.
- Authors revise the manuscript based on the reviewers' and editor's comments.
- The Chief Editor makes the final decision.
- Accepted manuscripts are copyedited, laid out, proofread by the authors, and published.
