Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest exists when financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships could influence, or appear to influence, a person's judgement in the publication process. Mitra Pilar: Jurnal Pendidikan, Inovasi, dan Terapan Teknologi requires authors, reviewers, and editors to disclose any such conflicts, following COPE guidance.

1. Authors

Every article must include a Conflict of Interest statement. Authors must disclose, for the past three (3) years:

  • funding, grants, or employment related to the research;
  • a financial or commercial interest in a product evaluated in the study (for example, learning software, applications, media, or modules developed or sold by the authors);
  • a role as teacher, lecturer, or administrator of the participants, where this could affect the voluntariness of participation or the objectivity of assessment;
  • personal or professional relationships that may affect the work.

If there are none, authors should write: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

2. Reviewers

Reviewers must decline an invitation, or inform the editor, if they:

  • work at the same institution as any author;
  • have collaborated or co-published with any author in the past three (3) years;
  • have a personal relationship, rivalry, or financial interest related to the manuscript; or
  • feel unable to give an objective assessment for any other reason.

Reviewers are not told whether authors have paid or been granted a waiver of the article processing charge.

3. Editors

  • Editors do not handle manuscripts from authors at their own institution, recent collaborators (past three years), or people with whom they have a personal relationship.
  • Manuscripts submitted by an editor, including the Chief Editor, are handled by another editor who has no conflict of interest. The submitting editor has no access to the review process or reviewer identities for that manuscript.
  • Such manuscripts go through the same peer review process as all other submissions.

4. Undisclosed Conflicts

If an undisclosed conflict of interest is discovered, the journal will act in accordance with the Research Misconduct and Correction and Retraction policies.
